Practicing Six Sigma

With the start of 2010 through Caterpillar’s Six Sigma certification program, ASC has on-site a Six Sigma Black Belt. In cooperation with our quality program and to support our continuous improvement efforts the tools and techniques of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing are employed.

Six Sigma is a business management strategy originally developed by Motorola, USA in 1986. As of 2010[update], it is widely used in many sectors of industry. Six Sigma seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management methods, including statistical methods.

Projects are selected by management, championed and supported with the resources needed to accomplish the charter. Associates and employees are used as green belts to achieve buy in and success. The strategies, objectives and goals of the organization are the focus of the program.
